By | February 25, 2018

Martinsville High School won the Academic Decathlon State Championship on February 9th and 10th. Since 1997, our decathlon team has won State 19 times– the fifth longest tradition of high schools in the nation!

This year’s squad scored 43,000 points, the 3rd highest in Martinsville history, and was led by seniors Joseph McGuire, Ali Wilt, and Tanner Guerrettaz. The rest of the team is made up of 5 juniors: Baileigh Hofer, Becca Clark, Gus Eaton, and Cameron Clark.  The team won the categories of Essay, Speech, Language and Literature, economics and social science.  Joseph McGuire scored the overall highest score in the state!

The National Championship is in Frisco, Texas this April, and they need your help! These hard-working Artesians have devoted over 300 study hours and planning to match that time as they ready themselves to represent Martinsville on the national stage. It will cost $15,000 to send the team to Texas.
