To wrap up our Chamber year, we invited Sarah Rubin, (INDOT) and Tim Miller, (HNTB) to update us on the I-69 Finish Line progress and more specifically, the SR 37 closure and the timeline for reopening as I-69 through Martinsville. They gave us an overview of all that has taken place this year along with what we can expect to see in 2022 as the construction of several roundabouts, ramps, and access roads continues adjacent to the new interstate.

If you have noticed a lot of changes happening on South Street as you come off the Grand Valley Blvd. bridge, then you’ll want to hear the latest on the improvements planned for that area (about 27 minutes into the video). Mayor Kenny Costin and the city’s planning and engineering director, Gary Oakes, also joined us to update us on South Street and other major projects that the city has tackled this year.

Thank you to Mayor Costin, Gary, Sarah, and Tim for joining us and for sharing so much valuable information, and congratulations on an amazingly productive year!

We would also like to thank Michelle and Amy and their team at Grand Valley Senior Living Community for providing our delicious lunch. They went to a lot of extra effort to make sure that we could have a hot lunch in the safest manner possible during these days of the pandemic. Great job, ladies!

One of the highlights at the end of our monthly luncheons is the door prize drawing, so we are sending a grateful shout out to the Martinsville Kiwanis, Berries and Ivy, Home Bank, Domino’s Security Technologies, Smithville, and Ivy Tech Bloomington for their generous donation of door prizes. We appreciate you!

The I-69 Finish Line PowerPoint presentation will be posted here as soon as we receive it, along with links to the videos that were part of the presentation.

Follow us here and on our Facebook page for details on our next luncheon meeting on January 21, 2022.
