On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the 3rd Annual Illuminate Walk & Family Event will be held at The Links at Heartland Crossing in Camby. Raising nearly $40,000 since its inception in 2021, the goal of Illuminate is to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health issues and addiction by increasing awareness and promoting communication to prevent suicides in our communities.

Morgan County and the surrounding areas have benefited greatly over the years as a result of the work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).  When someone dies by suicide, family, and friends are left with so many unanswered questions.  AFSP provides family support and resources to those who may need a local AFSP-trained certified suicide grief bereavement counselor.  They also provide connections to others who have struggled with a loss due to suicide.  AFSP has established multiple training programs that have been provided free of charge to local workplaces, schools, organizations, and neighborhoods.  These programs provide information on prevention and awareness, as well as resources available in our community and throughout the state.  Finally, their advocacy and outreach efforts helped to create the 988 Lifeline, which provides immediate crisis interventions by connecting citizens to a certified professional in their area via phone call or text.

We would love to include you as one of our partners for our event this year.  While our funding goes directly to AFSP, this is a community event, so we have flexibility in our partnerships and love when we can work together to find new ways to help you maximize your sponsorship dollars.  If you have other ideas or suggestions on how we can work together, I would be interested in talking with you.
