As we recently celebrated the opening of our second program in Franklin and our three-year mark for our original program in Martinsville, we are excited to announce our first Memorial Fishing Tournament. This is a fundraiser for A Senior Retreat Senior Services, our non-profit arm of our organization. The funds raised will be to provide scholarships to our Adult Day Center benefiting older adults and their caregivers in our community.
Many of the ideas for this event were inspired by our very first Friend in our program, Gerald. He and I would sit and chat many afternoons about days of bank fishing and picnics. We’ll share more of his story as we get closer to the event, but envision a “Mayberry-style” event full of neighbors, fishing bankside with family, co-workers, or friends, with live bait and a nice picnic, shared afterward while telling fishing tales of days gone by.
May we invite you and your organization, family, friends or all, to join us in sponsoring this unique fundraising event to raise awareness that those living with dementia still have PURPOSE and should have the opportunity to experience periods of JOY on a regular basis.
Sponsorship opportunities range from $50 to $5000 to allow for every budget. Please see the below registration form for more details.
It is our absolute honor to care for this generation in our adult day program. Their caregivers need our help and these scholarships can do just that. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
