WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL ABOUT THE TOTAL ECLIPSE IN APRIL?

Thank you to the many Chamber members and guests that joined us for our August Luncheon. In April, we learned about the large influx of visitors expected in central Indiana for the April 8th, 2024, total solar eclipse. Learn more about that presentation by Purdue Professor Barrett Caldwell here: https://martinsvillechamber.com/april-2024-total-solar-eclipse/.

How will this event affect your business? What changes in your routine should you consider for that day? At our August meeting, we heard from Abby Worth, Morgan County EMA about what will be done locally in the coming months to prepare for all the extra people who will be in our community for the long weekend. Thank you, Abby, for a very informative presentation. Scroll to the bottom of the page to download Abby’s slides.

Lunch was catered by Greek’s Pizzeria, and the Sycamore at Mallow Run was our August spotlight business. Thanks to Kim Walls and Amy McQueen for bringing goodies and telling us more about the Sycamore and the many types of events they host.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming several new members: Bluestone Tree, Central Indiana K9, HealthNet, Indiana Members Credit Union, RCV Roofing, Siding, & Gutters, Tom Wood Outdoor Equipment, and Top Self.

Thank you to our friends at Berries & Ivy, Brad’s Residential Repair – Bradley & Darcy Quakenbush, Fastpace Health, Grounded Solutions, Sycamore at Mallow Run, and Transnation Title for their generous door prize donations!

Why is the April 2024 total solar eclipse a big deal for Martinsville & Morgan County?
