The Board of Directors of the League of Miracles is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Plunkett as the organization’s Executive Director. The League of Miracles is a sports complex specifically designed for people with special needs and their families to participate in recreational opportunities.

Melissa is a proud wife and mother of 4 and grandmother (Mimi) of 2 sweet granddaughters. In addition to having her own children, her family has hosted 19 exchange students over the years, and they are overjoyed to have family members all over the world. Finding hosting to be such a blessing she joined the agency as an Area Representative and now is a Regional Advisor finding homes for over a dozen exchange students in Central Indiana each year and offering support to other Representatives doing the same.

Melissa worked previously at the BBJ YMCA in many positions including front desk, lifeguard, swim instructor, summer camp counselor, before and after school care, and Assistant Program Director. She left that position to stay home with her children for a couple of years before launching onto a new adventure, becoming a Montessori Elementary teacher. She was instrumental in the start-up and running of the Elementary program at Center Grove Montessori and just recently decided it was time to leave the classroom, spend more time with her family and get back into the non-profit world. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, boating, running, and spending time with her family, as well as loves learning new things and considers herself a lifelong learner. She is excited to join the League of Miracles and learn more about the volunteers, participants, families, communities, and the organization! She hopes to continue to grow this excellent and unique program and welcome new athletes and new opportunities to the community. She is so eager to become a Part of the Miracle!

Currently, the League of Miracles has a Spring kickball league, a Spring and Fall baseball league, and many other activities and programs throughout the year. We are now accepting participants for the Fall baseball season, which will begin on August 30th. There are also great opportunities to volunteer to help during the games by helping the kids play.
