October is Family History Month and the Morgan County Public Library in Martinsville will be celebrating both families and history!

Stop by on Wednesday evening October 12 for Drop-In Genealogy or Local History Help.  Get your questions answered hopefully on the spot from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.  Can’t come?  Just fill out one of our book-a-genealogy-librarian forms to reserve a different time that is more convenient for you.

Author Ronald May will talk about the latest edition of his book “Our Service, Our Stories.”  Come hear him speak about stories from World War II on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 AM.  These may even be stories you have never heard before.

Crafters who love taking photos can bring a set of 12 photos to represent a year in someone’s life or 12 photos of your visit to somewhere special.  On Wednesday, October 19 at 5:30 pm we’ll make a 12-page album.  Registration at the library’s online event calendar is recommended as supplies needed for this are limited.

The Morgan County History and Genealogy Association will present “Morgan County Food Over the Last 200 Years.”   Association Board Member Ashley Mills will be presenting this mouth-watering program on Thursday, October 27 at 7 PM.

Saturday, October 29th at 3:00 PM, Assistant Professor of History, Dr. Chris Walker will describe the Civil War 33rd Indiana Infantry Regiment.  He will give a vivid talk and walk through their lives and times experiencing the War.  Daughters of the Union will provide refreshments and genealogy help after the program.
