The Governor’s shelter-in-place order remains in effect and all Martinsville citizens are reminded that unless you are traveling to work at an essential employee or going out for essential services, you are to remain at home until the order is lifted by the governor. There have been several complaints of people out and about unnecessarily, in violation of the order.

This order also prohibits groups of people, including children, from gathering to play sports such as baseball or basketball. It is important to get exercise; however, it must be done while keeping the 6-foot, social distancing order.

Unless you MUST go out, I am asking all Martinsville residents to stay at home. Also, remember to frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes. By taking these simple steps, we all can help prevent the spread of the virus.
