The Martinsville Chamber of Commerce could not possibly fulfill its mission without the dedicated efforts of our board directors and chamber members who volunteer their time for our three current project teams. We are always looking for more volunteers and fresh ideas, so please take a look at the objectives for each of the teams below and consider joining us as we work together to make the greater Martinsville area a better place to live, work, and play. Workforce & Community Development
1st Wednesdays 11:30 a.m. at Chamber Office
Leads the business community and educators in partnerships that impact public education, expand access to higher education, and develop strategies to secure a workforce ready to meet the needs of Martinsville-area employers.
A high-quality workforce is necessary to retain and attract businesses to the City of Martinsville, and connecting local youth to local businesses can broaden horizons for both parties.
- Realistically what we can do to promote/help/encourage entrepreneurs
- Work w/local Careers classes on school career showcases and local business tours
- Speakers Bureau promotion and expansion
- Classes/trainings for adults
- Workforce Development survey (used to determine what trainings/classes to host in our area based on interested and possibilities; currently working with Ivy Tech-Bloomington to determine what’s possible to bring/teach here)

3rd Tuesdays, 8:00 a.m. at Chamber Office
Identifies the needs of members to ensure the Chamber offers a solid return on membership investment. This team evaluates and provides strategic input into the programs, services, and offerings available to Chamber members to ensure their needs are being met. Helps members grow their businesses through opportunities to network and develop stronger business skills through education and business resource connections.
Increasing Member Services builds a closer-knit community and improves growth. The Chamber will be able to further the interests of small businesses in the area, keeping small businesses alive and a viable option to community members.
- Benefits for members (ex. member discounts or B2B rewards)
- Investigate member makeup and target better
- Host survey during a luncheon
- Responsible for recruiting committee members
- Networking Opportunities (ex. speed networking event, ice cream social, wine evening @ The Main Connection, etc)

1st Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. at Chamber Office
Host annual fundraising and community events that put the Chamber in a good light.
The future success of the Chamber will be determined by its community influence focusing not just on traditional business issues but on the overall financial health and well-being of the community.
All Board Members will be expected to help on the day of at least one of these events:

- Chili Cook-off & Chalk Art Contest
- Consider potential annual signature event to add
