The Martinsville Chamber, in partnership with the Mooresville Chamber and #GrowwithGoogle, hosted a packed house at the Morgan County Public Library on April 29th for the #MakeAIWork For You workshop.
While the buzz around Artificial Intelligence often focuses on big tech, today’s session was grounded in the reality of Morgan County. The room was filled with a diverse mix of small business owners and nonprofit professionals—all looking for ways to reclaim their time and amplify their impact.
Tailored Strategies for Every Sector
One of the highlights of the day was the coach’s focus on the unique needs of our nonprofit community. Recognizing that nonprofit leaders often wear five hats at once, the session provided concrete examples of how AI can act as a “digital teammate” for mission-driven work. AI can assist nonprofit professionals with grant writing & reporting, donor engagement, and event planning.
Practical Tools for Small Business Growth
For our local entrepreneurs, the focus remained on staying competitive and efficient. The Grow with Google curriculum highlighted:
- The 24/7 Digital Assistant: Using tools like Gemini to handle customer inquiries, draft professional emails, and manage overflowing inboxes.
- Content Creation: Learning how to use AI-driven tools to create high-quality marketing videos and social media graphics that look like they were made by a professional agency.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Leveraging NotebookLM to analyze local market trends or internal business spreadsheets to find new areas for growth.
The energy in the room was unmistakable as community and business leaders from Martinsville, Mooresville, Bloomington, and Indianapolis shared ideas across the table. Whether it was a local boutique owner chatting with a community foundation director, the consensus was clear: AI isn’t here to replace the “human touch” that makes our community special—it’s here to give us more time to focus on the people we serve.
