Business leaders, you’re invited to Women United’s Signature Event ” For Our Children” on September 19th

On Saturday, September 19, Jen Palmer, M.A. Ed., (Owner/Director at The Growing Garden Learning Center), will be participating in the panel discussion at United Way of Central Indiana’s For Our Children event in Indianapolis. The event brings together people from early childhood, business, philanthropy, and the community to talk about how we can better support children and families.

One of the messages she hopes to bring to the conversation is that access to high-quality, affordable early care and education is not simply a family or childcare issue. It is a workforce issue. When families cannot find or afford care, employers feel the effects through recruitment, retention, attendance, and productivity.

She would love to see more employers and business leaders represented in these conversations. Please join Jen on the 19th and feel free to invite your colleagues.

The event is Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at DayStar Childcare and Infant Learning Center in Indianapolis.

Creating sustainable solutions for early care and education is going to require all of us working together.

September 19 | 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Join Women United for our Signature Event, ” For Our Children” — a community-centered event supporting children and families through connection, learning, advocacy, and philanthropy.

The morning begins with a coffee chat from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by a roundtable discussion and panel from 10:15 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Lunch is included with registration.

This event is part of Women United and United Way of Central Indiana’s advocacy and education work in Early Childhood Education. Guests can register to vote and learn about the pathway to Advocacy 101 (January 2027) and Day at the Statehouse (February 11, 2027).

We’re also collecting book and school supply donations for DayStar’s childcare and after-school programs.

Together, we’ll lift up early care and learning, strengthen community engagement and gender equity, and help children and families thrive.

Women United has come to the conclusion that I have more to give.
