Superfast Internet Speeds Now Available through Public-Private Project that Will Bring Citywide Connectivity This Fall

Martinsville, Ind., March 12, 2024 – Continuing our efforts to close the digital divide and connect people wherever they live and work, AT&T* has expanded our superfast fiber network to serve more than 2,500 residential, small business and farm locations in Martinsville.

This week, AT&T announced new availability of AT&T Fiber to more than 2,500 customer locations in parts of the city. This new access to connectivity is the result of a $6.3 million collaboration between the City of Martinsville and AT&T to build a state-of-the-art network and deliver AT&T Fiber to more than 5,000 customer locations throughout the city limits.

“AT&T is easily on target to meet its September deadline, with more than half of this project already complete,” said Kenny Costin, Mayor of the City of Martinsville. “In today’s digital age, fast connectivity is critical to everyday life. We’re excited that more than 2,500 Martinsville residents now have access to high-speed broadband through AT&T Fiber, and we look forward to connecting the rest of our community this fall.”

The Martinsville Common Council and Board of Works and Safety approved this AT&T Fiber project in September 2022. The network buildout is expected to be complete by September 2024. The expanded network will give more customers access to super-fast internet speeds up to 5-Gigs,[1] and you can sign up to be notified when AT&T Fiber is available to your address through att.com/notifyme.

“We’re excited to collaborate on this transformational project with the City of Martinsville,” said AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards. “We believe Indiana communities both small and large deserve high-speed fiber connectivity. We’re past the halfway point of our build for this project, and we are excited to keep the momentum going for the people of Martinsville.”

AT&T has extensive experience deploying fiber-optics across Indiana. As of Q4 2023, more than 590,000 locations in the state have access to AT&T Fiber. AT&T recently completed its public-private fiber builds in Vanderburgh County and Boonville. In addition to the City of Martinsville, AT&T is currently working with Lawrence County and Delaware County on public-private partnerships to bring AT&T Fiber to those communities. AT&T is also collaborating with the State of Indiana through the state’s Next Level Connections Broadband Grant Program to build fiber networks in parts of nine counties.
