JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors, L.P. is scheduled to close State Road 44 on or after Monday, June 9, to complete a small structure replacement project in Johnson County.

The closure will take place between South County Road 575 West and South County Road 475 West approximately 2.8 miles west of State Road 135. S.R. 44 is expected to reopen in early July, weather permitting.

During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows S.R. 135 to S.R. 252 to I-69 to S.R. 44.

This project is part of a contract awarded to Milestone in April 2024. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
