Construction on the renovation of the Morgan County Historic Courthouse is continuing through the winter months. After sidewalks and parking were turned over in November of 2025, demo and renovation work inside the building has been ongoing.

As you can see from the outside, contractors were able to complete the replacement of trim on the clock tower, structural steel, and masonry for the addition building, and replacement of the majority of the roof system. Old, failing mortar joints around the outside of the existing courthouse were patched, and brick replaced where needed. All brick and limestone on the building will be washed when higher temperatures return.

Inside the building, demolition of existing walls, ceilings, floors, and windows is complete. Contractors have been busy on interior work, including framing and drywall, new duct installation, installation of new plumbing piping, and a new fire protection system.

Work associated with site utilities, brick and limestone masonry, and sidewalks, all taking place inside the jobsite fence, will resume in the Spring as weather allows.
