Introducing…
Your public safety friends who work behind the scenes, the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency!

Abigail Worth (middle) serves as the EMA Director. Abigail is Morgan County born and raised. She loves that each day she gets to wake up and help make the county she grew up in safer and more resilient. Abigail has worked in Fire/EMS here for nearly ten years. She will be graduating from Mount Vernon University this fall with a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and has also received a certification in Professional Emergency Management from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Her hobbies include practicing yoga and spending time with her husband and their dogs Boomer, Yukon, and Kodiak.

Emily Shields (right) serves as the EMA Deputy Director. Emily moved to Martinsville a year and a half ago when she fell in love with her now husband. She fell in love with Morgan County soon after. Emily graduated from the Indiana University Police Academy in 2023 and is excited to be using what she has learned to serve the community in which she lives. In her free time, Emily enjoys golfing and riding the motorcycle with her husband and hanging out with their big dogs Ischka, Michter, and Maduro.

We also welcome the newest member of our team, our Administrative Assistant Shelby Duncan! Shelby (left) is also from Morgan County and is currently studying social work. She will graduate from Indiana Wesleyan University with her Master’s in Social Work in the spring of 2025. Her hobbies include golfing, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two kiddos. Shelby is passionate about helping those around her and continuing to serve her community.

Our team works hard every day to help our citizens prepare for and cope with any type of emergency. Our mission is to:
– reduce loss of life and property
– protect our county’s critical infrastructure from all types of hazards through a comprehensive, risk-based, emergency management program of MITIGATION, PREPAREDNESS, RESPONSE, AND RECOVERY.

It is our honor to serve Morgan County!
