MOORESVILLE, Ind. – Franciscan Health Mooresville will be hosting a workshop for youth in crisis, entitled, Youth Mental Health First Aid on Friday, September 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the hospital campus.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an intensive, free workshop that introduces common mental health challenges of youth. The workshop reviews typical adolescent development and teaches a 5-step action plan to help young people, especially those ages 12-18, in crisis and non-crisis situations.
Topics covered during the workshop include: anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), and eating disorders.
The program provides essential information and training for adults who interact with children on a regular basis, such as parents, family members and caregivers as well as teachers and counselors, health and human services workers and any adult interacting with an adolescent in crisis.
