INDIANAPOLIS – Franciscan Health will be hosting the Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp, August 16-18 at Waycross Camp and Conference Center in Morgantown, Ind.

The weekend is designed specifically for survivors and caregivers in a comfortable and informal setting that focuses on: education, relaxation, crafts, games, socialization, discussion, pampering and entertainment.

The mission of the Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp is to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors, caregivers, and their families. This is accomplished through weekend retreats, as well as community stroke education and awareness events for the public.

“Stroke camp is a very unique opportunity to continue recovery,” said Laura Williams, stroke program coordinator at Franciscan Health. “Every year our newcomers tell us that the experience they have at camp is something that they never knew they needed. This community of people coming together to support each other, share experiences and embrace life is something that is hard to duplicate outside of camp.”

The Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp is the only stroke camp in the state of Indiana, with 2024 marking the 20th year of the camp.

The cost of the camp is $150 per person and scholarship opportunities are available for financial hardship through United Stroke Alliance.

Register here for the Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp or call (309) 688-5450. Space is limited.

The camp is made possible by the work of the Franciscan Health Stroke Center, the Franciscan Health Foundation and Franciscan Rehabilitation Services.
