INDIANAPOLIS – Franciscan Health Indianapolis has received Thrombectomy Stroke Certification from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for the services of stroke care.
Certification is a process through which healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Certification by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.
“Achieving Thrombectomy Stroke Certification from the ACHC affirms our commitment to providing exceptional stroke care,” said Lori Price, president and CEO for Franciscan Health Central Indiana. “This distinction provides the opportunity to spotlight the quality of services and care we provide the patients we are fortunate enough to serve in Indianapolis.”
Certification is achieved by the successful completion of a set of rigorous standards for performing endovascular thrombectomy, a minimally-invasive surgical procedure used to treat acute ischemic stroke and providing post-procedural care. Mechanical thrombectomy saves lives and prevents the debilitating effects of stroke.
“We have an amazing stroke team in Indianapolis, who are dedicated to providing patients with cutting-edge treatments and extraordinary care,” said Meredith Cousin, MD, stroke director and neurologist at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. “We are very grateful to receive this certification and strive each and every day to provide best-in-class stroke care.”
Franciscan Health Indianapolis was named No. 1 in Indiana for Stroke Care by Healthgrades for 2024.
