BEECH GROVE, Ind. – Franciscan Health will be hosting the 39th Annual Walk to Remember in Beech Grove on Saturday, October 12.

This citywide event includes hundreds of families from around central Indiana who have lost children through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. Participants and attendees will come together to remember the babies in a service of music, poetry and reading of the infants’ names.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 11 a.m. at Beech Grove Central Middle School. The walk will end at Sarah T. Bolton Park, where the event program will be held, featuring speakers and a dove release. Proclamations will be provided by the state of Indiana, city of Indianapolis and the city of Beech Grove. Mayor James Coffman will read the Beech Grove proclamation.

The entire group will walk together to the park, with the street filled with families, strollers, and wagons. Those who cannot walk may drive.

A drawing for prizes will be held in the gymnasium. Winners may return to the school after the walk to collect their prizes. All event proceeds go to support Walk to Remember.

Walk to Remember is a time when families from all over Indianapolis come together to remember and celebrate the lives of their babies that have ended all too soon. Some families may have recently lost a baby; others have been coming on this special day since the first walk in 1985.

Beech Grove Central Elementary School is located at 1000 Main Street in Beech Grove.
