Big celebration in Martinsville today!
 
AT&T’s $6.3M public-private project with The City Of Martinsville, Indiana is now complete. 
 
Over 5,000 homes and businesses now have access to blazing fast speeds and AT&T Fiber citywide.
 
To help celebrate, AT&T partnered with Churches in Mission to  distribute 100 laptops to local families to help connect them to greater possibilities.
 
AT&T Indiana president Bill Soards expressed his appreciation of Kenny Costin Mayor of Martinsville and Martinsville leaders for their partnership on this transformational project.

That's pretty sweet but most can't afford internet service.

🎺 Taps will be played at 7 pm, each evening of The Walls visit to the Morgan County Fairgrounds (1749 Hospital Drive, Martinsville), courtesy of Indiana Spirit of 45.

πŸŽ– The Wall That Heals Opening Ceremony took place on Thursday, August 15th and after opening  comments by Ellen Wilson-Pruitt and Kenny Costin Mayor of Martinsville, Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis was the featured speaker. The audience of more than 200 was then treated Mr. Davis’s playing of Shenandoah on his harmonica. Mr. Davis (known as the real Forest Gump as his Medal of Honor Award footage was used in the popular film) hosted a book signing after the ceremony.

πŸ•― Agent Orange Candlelight Ceremony - At 9:30 pm, Friday, August 16, a special candlelight ceremony will be held at the Wall honoring those who served and suffered from the effects of Agent Orange. The public is invited to attend. 

⭐️ Vietnam Gold Star Family Reception - On Saturday, August 17, a special reception will be held for the families of local soldiers whose names appear on The Wall. RSVPs are required for this event. 

🎢 Morgan County Veterans Memorial Fundraiser - On Saturday, August 17, the VFW Post 1257 Martinsville, Indiana will host a dinner with live music to raise funds for the Morgan County Veterans Memorial. Dinner will be served from 6-7 pm followed by the Lance Camaron Band IV playing blues, soul and rock n roll. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by calling 317-446-9472.

⭐️ The procession will leave from Mooresville at 11:30 am, travel down SR67, then down Morgan Street arriving at the Morgan County Fairgrounds around 12:08 pm. 

⭐️ If you will be in Martinsville, please participate by picking up a free flag at one of the 14 flag stations along Morgan St. from Park Ave. to Hospital Dr. Then, line Morgan St. to cheer and show your respect for those who fought and gave their all for our country during the Vietnam War. 

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Flag stations should be set up by around 11:15 am. 

⭐️ I believe the Wall will come down Morgan St. just before noon. Be sure to be set up by 11:45.
