Jen Palmer, Co-owner and Director of Growing Garden Learning Center and a representative of the BCC Childcare Task Force addresses Chamber members and guests.
**Our apologies for the technical glitch (or user error 🙂 ) that made us miss the first two minutes or so of Jen’s introduction.

As our chamber reviews workforce development efforts and how we might assist, we realize that the shortage of quality childcare in Morgan County is one of the biggest challenges for our workforce. We are grateful that fellow community stakeholders, the Community Foundation of Morgan County and the Better Communities Coalition (BCC), have been working diligently to bring the right people together to address this crucial issue. We asked Jen Palmer, co-owner and director of the Growing Garden Learning Center in Mooresville to bring us up to date on the current status of childcare in Morgan County and the ongoing efforts to improve the quantity and quality of childcare providers. Jen is also active on the BCC childcare task force, so she was able to update us on its efforts, as well. View and download Jen’s PowerPoint and BCC materials below the photo gallery.

Please share this link with employers so they can ask their employees to take the brief survey linked below that will give the BCC childcare task force the most current and relevant information regarding local childcare needs.

We were excited to announce our newest Chamber members Kim Brennan – The Stewart Home Group, Bruce McKee – Indiana Spirit of ‘45, Mike Masterson – Culver’s of Indiana, Seth Gillies – Bar Ziek, and Stephen Crane – The Morgan County Correspondent. Due to other obligations, only Kim was able to join us and it was our pleasure to welcome The Stewart Home Group to the Chamber.

Thank you to Grand Valley Senior Living Community for providing our delicious lunch and to those who generously donated door prizes: Heroes Wildlife Adventures, Steve Powell, Kiwanis, Darcy Quakenbush, League of Miracles, Morgan County Community Concerts, and Grand Valley Senior Living Community.
