Scotty Manley has been appointed as Recycling Director by the Morgan County Commissioners. Manley has been employed by Morgan County for five years, previously running the Morgan County Office of Weights and Measures.

Morgan County currently manages one public recycling site in Morgantown. A new recycling site is under construction in Centerton and is expected to open this spring.

“We are excited about our new recycling center and know Scotty is the right person to oversee our recycling efforts now and in the future,” Commissioner Don Adams said.

As Morgan County’s Recycling Director, Manley is responsible for:

Managing the daily operations of the recycling program, including the county’s recycling site(s) and vendors

Educating the public and businesses about recycling policies and the proper disposal or recycling of various materials

Planning the county’s recycling and waste removal events, including biannual Tox Away Days

Overseeing department operations, budget, and personnel

Attending state and regional meetings about Indiana’s recycling activities

Serving as the liaison with other recycling and solid waste districts and organizations

Researching, writing, and submitting grant applications

Coordinating public and other agency inquiries

Preparing the annual budget and other financial reports

“I am excited to be a resource for Morgan County residents and businesses,” Manley said. “I am especially looking forward to educating the public about proper recycling, conservation and impacts to the environment.”

Manley and his wife reside in Martinsville and share 10 children and 13 grandchildren.
