After the new judicial center opens in July, the County will begin renovating the existing Courthouse, with construction being completed in early 2027. The exterior renovation includes reconfigured parking, new sidewalks, and ADA-compliant ramps and curbs.

Once renovations are complete, the courthouse will provide office space for professionals currently working in the Morgan County Admin Building at 180 S. Main St.

Careful consideration has been given to the exterior Courthouse renovations to minimize impacts on the City of Martinsville and the downtown businesses on or adjacent to the Courthouse Square. If the preferred phasing plan is approved, all streets adjacent to the Courthouse will be open by Thanksgiving 2025.

Morgan County officials recently conducted two informational meetings about the upcoming, much-needed renovation to the Morgan County Courthouse, slated to begin in mid-July. Downtown business owners, downtown residents, city and county officials, and interested citizens attended both meetings. While this video is from the second meeting, the information is the same.
